Most adults spend at least five days a week working, so they want to make the most of their weekend, cycling is a perfect way to explore our local beauty spots.
Cycling releases serotonin, a mood neurotransmitter that is known for enhancing good feelings, self-esteem and self-confidence. Set yourself cycling challenges such as climbing a tough hill; achieving these goals will leave you feeling powerful, strong and generally positive about yourself
Our journey starts here, together!
Welcome to our female only social cycling group, affiliated and insured under Cycling UK. Even today females are still massively under represented in cycling, but did you know that he invention and popularisation of the humble two-wheeled bicycle in the 19th century helped move the cause of female equality and freedom forward in the modern world; even today, there is no more feminist way to get around, and as a club that is something we're going to celebrate.
The sole purpose of Women that Ride is to help raise women's self-esteem, fitness and confidence through cycling. We are a non- competitive group that meet to enjoy the freedom that getting on our bikes and going for a ride gives us each and every time. We will host regular local social rides to suit every woman's cycling ability. and will plan some longer cycles for those that are looking for more of a challenge.
"To men," an editorial from 1896, quoted in the excellent cycling book, Wheels Of Change, noted, "the bicycle in the beginning was merely a new toy, another machine added to the long list of devices they knew in their work and play. To women, it was a steed on which they rode into a new world."

Thank you. Seriously wouldn't be the positive yet assertive character I am today without the strong woman program or community. One of my best investments of last year.
- Adele
Melissa is passionate about supporting the community and bringing accessible classes to the public by using locations such as the seafront at Tynemouth and Whitely Bay. To experience Sunrise Barre at Whitley Bay is a joy as is ballet at Northumberland Park.
